INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT for the Sustainable Gardener
As dynamic systems, our landscapes are sometimes prone to damage from insect, bird and animal populations. The reality of changing climate patterns also means adjusting to changing ecosystem dynamics. Just as healthy bodies require healthy resources to resiliently fend off disease and other problems, so too, do healthy plants. In this informative 3-hour workshop, Janet Melrose, Calgary's Cottage Gardener, will provide an overview of what Integrated Pest Management is all about, how plants protect themselves from pests and how we can help boost their defenses. We'll learn what kinds of garden pests are most common to our region, and explore various sustainable control and management strategies for food production systems.
